Case Study: Copper

Breed: Shepherd Mix

DOB/Age: 10 months
History
Copper was brought to Lollypop after being hit by a car, with a hind leg injury. X-rays were taken and revealed a fracture of the tibial tuberosity in the right hind limb. Surgery was performed at Lollypop to repair the fracture.
Presenting Problems
Non weight bearing on surgical leg, and decreased muscle mass in both hind limbs.
Therapy Goals
Obtain full weight bearing on Copper’s right hind leg, increase in his muscle mass, and strengthen both hind limbs.
Course of Therapy
Copper boarded at TheraVet for a month. While boarding, he received daily therapy, and rehabilitation. His therapy included Underwater Treadmill, Laser Therapy, and therapeutic exercises. Copper’s therapy went very well, due partly to the fact that he was a wonderful dog to work with, and had a sweet personality.
Progress Evaluation
